Assessing Storage Facility Features And Your Needs

by Brianna Cole

Not every business needed a fully-staffed, highly secure storage facility with climate control. At the same time, you might not want to keep semi-important documents used for auditing in a storage room that leaks whenever it rains. There are many different tiers of storage space out there—and just as many small details that change from business to business. To understand what you need and what you could get as a bonus, here are a few things to keep an eye out for in storage facilities, such as K&L LLC Mini Storage.

Basic Security Needs

Some storage facilities have indoor units, cameras, and security guards. Others may be a set of storage sheds in a field with what you can only hope is a working camera. Even in places that look secure, the devil is in the details.

If security is your concern, cameras are the first place to look. You want to know the location of the cameras, as well as the recording policy of the storage facility. It's not unheard of for a company to have security cameras or empty camera protection domes as simple deterrents with no real way of recording.

Ask for a playback of a particular day and fast forward through a few hours. Look through a few different days, and keep an eye out for the timestamp. If you're already a storage customer and want to confirm a few things, set a day to stand around a camera, then ask for a recording playback later on to see if the footage is real. Hopefully, you'll be a star in the camera footage.

Air Conditioning Versus Climate Control

There's a big difference between air conditioning and clean, reliable, controlled air quality. For paperwork, furniture, and general use office equipment, air conditioning is enough to keep everything from suffering heat damage or excessive heat damage.

Humidity and outside pollution can be a problem when it comes to old documents or sensitive cloth. If your business needs to store sensitive textiles or other objects that can be affected by bad air quality and humidity, make sure that the facility has some sort of air filtering and dehumidifier system

Air conditioning units can operate as air quality control, but only if the filter is decent and regularly maintained. Ask to see the filter for the air conditioning system and ensure that the system has a HEPA (high-efficiency particulate arrestance) filter or any other filter that fits your business requirements.

There are more features that could sync up with your specific business needs. Contact a storage facility representative to discuss their features and changes that can be made to help you.

About Me

Tips for Starting a Successful Business

I took a lot of business classes while in college, and while I've never gone into the business realm myself, I still take an active interest in successful business tactics. While taking one of my favorite courses in college, my professor required me to create a detailed business plan for a fictional company. During the completion of this assignment, I researched ways to make a new business successful. I discovered that implementing marketing strategies is crucial. I also learned about the value of offering a product or service customers in your target area desire. For example, selling snow plows in Miami, Florida is probably not a great idea. On this blog, I hope you will discover some ingenious tips to help you become a successful entrepreneur.
